Jun Njan: Always Remember The Roots
To break the last day of fasting, I, Maga, Junior, Meina & Widya went to Jun Njan Seafood Restaurant at Gandaria City. The place was rather packed with families missing their maids who had gone home to their villages for “Lebaran”. In spite of the long wait for the food to be served, and the absent of garnishes, the food remained delicious as usual. The oyster sauced crab was still the best. So was the hot and salted fried squit. The third generation who managed several Jun Njan restaurants seemed doing very well in maintaining the old recipes and family’s value of Always Remember the Roots.

Sambil nongkrong menikmati Bakmi Godok yang dihidangkan di atas piring yang sudah gempil di sana-sini, kami membahas mengapa setiap kali kami ke Yogya, “Bakmi Kadin” merupakan salah satu restoran yang wajib dikunjungi. Dari rasa memang enak, tapi rasa-rasanya banyak tempat lain yang membuat bakmi lebih enak. Dari sisi tempat, penuh, panas, remang-remang dan sulit cari parkir — walaupun orkes kroncongnya, termasuk unik. Dari sisi harga, termasuk mahal untuk ukuran Yogya. Yang tidak bisa dipungkiri adalah rasa pulang kampung setiap kali berkunjung ke warung ini. Ada kenangan tersendiri yang tidak ditemukan di tempat lain …

Dari segi lokasi, tempat ini OK sekali. Kalau tidak sempat sarapan di rumah, dalam perjalanan ke kantor bisa mampir dulu sebentar untuk menikmati bubur. Dari segi rasa – walau pun tidak istimewa – enggak ada keluhan lah. Dari segi penyajian… Waduh … masak di tempat yang terbilang mewah ini bubur disajikan di dalam mangkuk yang sudah gempil. Ah, mungkin kebetulan dan hanya satu saja!!! Ternyata cah caimeonya juga disajikan di dalam piring gempil juga.
