Indiana University Bloomington: Lux et Veritas
Many years ago, when I had just graduated from Gadjah Mada University, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, a visiting professor from Michigan University advised me to take my Master’s degree at Indiana University. He said I would love Bloomington campus.
But I did not continue my education, I had entered into the workforce and lulled by a fairly high salary offered by a Multinational Company. Continuing my education abroad became unattractive option.
Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Indiana and I decided to stop by at the University of Indiana in Bloomington. It was such a beautiful campus and I said to myself, I would be well suited to this place if at that time I had decided to pursue my education and studied here.
Indianapolis
For a big city, Indianapolis is relatively small and very pretty. The heart of the city is located on the Monument Circle in the form of Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, a 90-meter-high obelisk made of limestone.

During our visit to this city, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, a chic hotel with a reasonable price only a few steps from this monument.
Deception Pass Bridge
Deception Pass Bridge was built in the 193os connecting Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island. This bridge is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Washington State
Cherry Lake @ Stanislaus National Forest
This beautiful artificial lake that also served as irrigation dam is not far from the western gate of Yosemite National Park.
Borobudur
Borobudur is the largest Mahayana Buddhist temple in the world, built in the 9th century during the reign of Sailendra Dinasty. Located in Central Java, Indonesia, about an hour drive from Yogyakarta.
Borobudur is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
More than two thousand reliefs like these can be found on the walls of the temple.
To find out the meaning behind these reliefs, you should take advantage of the tour guides provided by the Borobudur Management for a small fee.
Tirtagangga Hot Springs Resort Hotel
Of the many hotels and lodgings in Cipanas, Garut, Tirtagangga Hot Springs Resort Hotel is our favorite. The Hotel is situated closest to the source of thermal water, so the natural water flowing to the hotel’s pool and baths is much cleaner and warmer.
Its rooms are spacious, clean, simple but tastefully furnished.
Some of the rooms are even equipped with private natural hot tubs.
The hot pools and hot fountain in the courtyard is quite open but still respect privacy.
Room 101 was the room that we always stayed when we were there.

Ratu Boko
Kraton Ratu Boko (Ratu Boko’s Palace) stands proudly at the top of the hill, facing north toward the Prambanan Temple and Mount Merapi. When most of the historical relics in Java are in the form of religious temples, Ratu Boko site is believed to be a remains of a palace. The locals believe that the palace once belong to King Boko, the king’s in the Javanese folklore of Lara Jonggrang, but archaeologists think it was the palace of King Sailendra of Mataram

Cangar Natural Hot Springs
Cangar Natural Hot Springs is about an hour from Batu toward Pacet, East Java. This thermal pool is located inside R Soerjo Forest and it actually has the potential to become a prime tourist destination in East Java. Unfortunately, it is poorly maintained and rather filthy.
